Short answer

Omega has never released a Speedmaster called the "57th Anniversary." The label comes from sellers, not from Omega. It points at 2026, which is 57 years after Apollo 11 in July 1969. No Omega reference number matches it.

Omega uses round numbers for anniversary models. The company shipped a 60th Anniversary Speedmaster in 2017, an Apollo 11 50th Anniversary in 2019, and a Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary in 2020.

What Omega actually released

  • 1957: first Speedmaster, reference CK2915. Three-register chronograph, Calibre 321.
  • 1965: NASA flight-qualified the Speedmaster for all manned missions.
  • July 20, 1969: Apollo 11. Buzz Aldrin wore a Speedmaster on the lunar surface.
  • 2017: Speedmaster 60th Anniversary Limited Edition, 1,957 pieces.
  • 2019: Apollo 11 50th Anniversary, reference 310.20.42.50.01.001, 6,969 pieces, gold step dial, Calibre 3861.
  • 2020: Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary, reference 310.32.42.50.02.001.

Specs buyers compare

Listing photos get checked against a known Moonwatch. The current steel reference is 310.30.42.50.01.002: Calibre 3861 Co-Axial Master Chronometer, 42 mm case, 13.2 mm thick, 50 m water resistance, 15,000 gauss magnetic resistance, hesalite crystal on the base version. Older references such as 3570.50.00 and 311.30.42.30.01.005 use Calibre 1861.

Details that separate a copy from the original: caseback engraving depth and font, the step between dial and subdials, lume color, crown guards, the joint between pushers and case, bracelet end-link fit, and movement finish behind a sapphire caseback. A photo of a decorated rotor is not proof of a Swiss movement.

Legal position in the US

Counterfeit watches are illegal to sell or import. 18 U.S.C. 2320 sets statutory damages per item, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection seizes shipments at the border. Resale value on a counterfeit is zero. No brand service center will repair one.

What to check before paying

  1. Ask for the reference number and match it to Omega's catalog.
  2. Ask for a photo of the movement with the caseback removed.
  3. Compare the serial on the card with the serial on the caseback.
  4. Check price. A steel Moonwatch lists above $7,000. A price far below that is a signal.
